One of the favorite ways families save money in the summer and enjoy an evening of great music at the same time is to keep track of the free music series presented by progressive cities across North Texas.  American Bank recently wrapped up its summer series in Frisco with a performance Carolyn Wonderland and the Creative Arts Center in Bonham completed its inaugural season of Music in the Garden with Rita Fulmer on stage.

But in Sherman and Denison, the beat goes on for another month of free concerts.

On June 25, Denison's Music on Main music series featured the homegrown blues of Jason Elmore and Hoodoo Witch.

Texas has turned out more than its share of hard-rocking, three-man bands, and this trio can churn out ZZ Top, Johnny Winter and Creedence Clearwater Revival covers with an authentic feel or they can mix in several original songs that sound like classics in the making.

Music fans made their way to Heritage Park on Main Street in Denison primed to hear an evening of blues as hot as the scorching Texas sun and Elmore & Co. delivered.

Jason Elmore handles the all the group's vocals and guitar parts with a smooth flair, while Chris Waw drives home the beat on bass and Beau Chadwell synchronizes the band's rhythm on drums.

Music on Main will take a week off for the Independence Day weekend before coming back with VooDoo Blue on July 10.  This free music series will continue throughout July, with local favorite Kirby Kelly closing out the season on July 31.

Hot Summer Nights in Sherman will feature Brave Combo at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2 on the Municipal Lawn.  On July 9, Spur 503 will take the stage in Sherman.
