Bonham, Texas -- Funeral services for Mary Dodd Anderson, 91, of Arlington, formerly of Fannin County, will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bonham, under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Father William “Bill” Dalton will officiate. Burial will follow in Dodd City Cemetery.
Following the committal friends and family are invited to gather at Granny Lou’s Bed & Breakfast. Mary Dodd passed away Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009 at Town Hall Estates in Arlington.
Mary Dodd was born Nov. 3, 1917 in Madill, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Vernon Kincaid and Lula Mae Dial Kincaid. She was a graduate of Bonham High School and the University of Texas. Mary Dodd was a charter member of Chi Omega Sorority in Arlington.
During WWII, Mary Dodd lived in Oregon where she was involved in building and deployment of Liberty ships on the West Coast. She was an executive assistant for Neiman Marcus in Dallas, TX for a number of years and was a docent for Old City Park in downtown Dallas.
Mary Dodd married Austin Flint Anderson, Jr., Dec. 30, 1950, and he preceded her in death, May 17, 1994. She was an avid reader and did magnificent needlepoint. She enjoyed cooking and was famous for her candies. Mary Dodd was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bonham.
Surviving are ~
3 sons and a daughter: Austin Flint Anderson, III, and wife Rita, John Kincaid Anderson and wife, Lauren, Scott Dial Anderson, and Mary Claire Lane and husband, Rick, all of Arlington
Grandchildren: Deidre O’Dwyer, Aaron Anderson, Mary Beth Anderson, Trey Lane, Andrew Lane, Chad Johnson and Tessa Johnson
Great Granddaughter: Mollie Ann
Sister-in-law: Joyce Kincaid
Several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Trey Lane, Andrew Lane, Aaron Anderson, Chad Johnson, Gary Kincaid, and Richard McGary.
The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 11:30 AM until service time, Wednesday.
