Construction set to begin late November

DALLAS, TX (November 18, 2009) – Providence Christian School of Texas announced that it has raised $9 million to date for its “Fulfilling Our Vision, Building Our Future” capital campaign, which began just nine months ago, in February of 2009.  Three-quarters of the way toward its $12 million goal, the School plans to begin construction on the first phase of its new facilities in late November.

The School also announced a matching gift opportunity, in which three donors will match 50 percent of all new gifts given prior to January 15, 2010, until the $500,000 match is exhausted.  Thus, the match could generate a total of $1.5 million toward the $3 million required to complete the campaign.

“In a down economy, people are cutting back and giving to what is true and permanent,” said Dr. Tony Jeffrey, Providence headmaster.  “Providence students live in a rapidly changing world, for which they need wisdom, the anchor of the unchanging truths of God’s Word, and His principles.  We are blessed that so many families and foundations believe in this vision and have chosen to support Providence and its classical Christian education during a difficult economic time.”

More than 80 percent of the School’s 275 families have contributed to the campaign to date, as have several local foundations, including:
• Hillcrest Foundation, founded by Mrs. W.W. Caruth, Sr., $300,000
• The Constantin Foundation, $100,000
• Hawn Foundation, Inc., $50,000
• Anonymous foundation, $50,000.

The money raised thus far will fund:
• 11 new classrooms for Classes Five, Six, Seven, and Eight
• a science lab
• two Latin rooms
• a Middle School art room
• repayment of debt used to purchase the School’s athletic field
• three years of the Annual Fund.

The amount still to be raised will fund:
• a regulation-sized gymnasium, locker rooms, and coaches offices
• a new library
• six preschool classrooms
• a nature studies lab
• an art room for Pre-K through Class Four
