Bobby Dean Blain of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Bonham, TX, lost his battle on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 with cancer. Bobby was born in Bonham on December 14, 1954 and recently celebrated his 55th birthday.
Bobby lived in Bonham and Fannin County for most of his life and held a variety of positions with different employers. Some of those employers include General Cable, J B White Co, Carter Chevrolet and Simpson Electric. He worked for the Postal Service from 1984 until 1999 and served as the Postmaster of Randolph and of Trenton. In 1999, he went into the real estate business and was co-founder and co-owner of Blain & Co. Realtors. He was also a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church in Bonham.
He and his wife, Rhonda, moved to Colorado Springs on January 1, 2008 and became members of Covenant Presbyterian Church. In mid-April of 2008, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He fought a long and courageous battle but the cancer moved into his brain in August of this year and then began to spread. He did not lose his fighting spirit, but his battle has ended and he has gone to be with the Lord.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Rhonda, of Colorado Springs, a son, Jeff Blain of Richardson, a son, Josh Blasingame of Paris, and a daughter, Jennifer Blain of Colorado Springs. His brothers are Floyd Blain and wife Brenda of Garland, Jim Blain and wife Lea Ann of Ravenna, Rev. Larry Blain and wife Jeanne of Sherman and James Leon Blain of Bonham. Nephews are Chris Blain, Steve Blain, Kevin Blain, Josh Blain and Nick Blain. Nieces are Kellie Blain Burnside, Lisa Blain Smith, Leslie Blain Oliver, Jessica Blain, Angela Blain Underwood and Kimberly Blain. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd Ishmael “Joe” Blain and Mary Burns Blain and a brother, Billy Blain.
Family night will be from 6 – 8 pm on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Mullican-Little Funeral Home in Bells and the funeral will be Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Bonham. Rev. Dr. Sallie Watson will be conducting the service. Burial will follow in the Gober Cemetery. The family will arrive on Tuesday, December 29 and will be staying with Jim and Lea Ann Blain in Ravenna.
