Northwest Tarrant Chamber of Commerce Director, Larry Thompson, killed in head-on collision

Larry Thompson, the Executive Director of Northwest Tarrant Chamber of Commerce was killed Saturday, Feb 6, 2010 when his car was struck by a suspected drunk driver. Thompson was returning home from a performance with the Popcorn Players in Azel and had just entered the 7100 block of Robertson Road. The wreck was reported shortly after 10:30pm.

According to witnesses at the scene, a BMW swerved into oncoming traffic when the driver apparently lost control, slamming into Thompson’s own BMW in a head-on collision. Thompson was killed instantly from multiple blunt trauma according to the medical examiner’s website, and the unidentified driver of the car which hit him was taken to the hospital.

Police have not charged the other driver with criminal intent, but have said that he could face a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

The Memorial Service for Thompson was held at the John Knox Presbyterian Church located at 4350 River Oaks Blvd in Fort Worth, Texas at 11am on Wed., Feb 10.
