Otha Alredge (Shep) Shepherd, Jr. began his reunion in heaven at 11:00 p.m. Monday evening, January 4, 2010 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born June 20, 1929 in Gober, Texas to Otha and Edna Dewoody Shepherd, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Shep married Adelia Turner, June 1, 1952, and they were married 57 years, living most of their marriage in Bonham, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Adelia, their daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Dava Brent of Bonham; his grandchildren, Timothy Brent and wife, Laura of Celina and Stephanie St. Aubin and husband, Damion of Frisco; great-grandchildren, Logan and Jaxon Brent and Cooper and Cash St. Aubin; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shep was a member of Bonham Assembly of God, the Kiwanis Club, United Transportation and was a volunteer fireman and US Army veteran. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad as a Railroad Conductor for 32 years. Shep enjoyed a long retirement with his wife, working in Branson for 15 years. He loved fishing and loving his great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday evening. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday in Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Eddie Ober and Bro. Irby McKnight will officiate. The interment will be at Little Jordan Cemetery in Savoy.
Pallbearers will be Everett Mitchell, Laron Shepherd, Don Duffee, Kyle Turner, Jon Sisk, Brad Park, Billy Horn and Loyd Cole.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Wilson, Carroll Spiller, Ronnie Packard, Pat Brent, Ronnie Brent, Dennis Holman, Lewis Trustey, James Hammett, James Beavers, Palmer Rayford, Donnie Horton and Larry Kirkpatrick.
