As college students across the country prepare to embark on their annual rite of passage, Coca-Cola Beach is ramping up to entertain tens of thousands of students in a fun and engaging, yet safe and wholesome environment for the 16th year on South Padre Island. Located on five acres of beachfront at the Isla Grand Beach Resort on Texas’ southern tip, Coca-Cola Beach is a free Spring Break experience with heart-thumping music from the hottest DJs, boisterous on-stage contests, cool prizes and a chance to sample the latest technology and products.

More than 100,000 college students take part in the fun at Coca-Cola Beach, a spring break tradition since 1995.

“Coca-Cola Beach offers young adults an unparalleled Spring Break experience,” said John Oehlke, vice president of the South Region for Coca-Cola North America. “By providing free, non-stop fun in a safe environment, we hope to help create memories that will last a lifetime.”

Coca-Cola Beach is a partnership with the Isla Grand Beach Resort and is supported by the South Padre Island Convention and Visitors’ Bureau.

“Coca-Cola Beach is key in our Spring Break initiative here on South Padre Island,” said Dan Quandt, executive director of the South Padre Island Convention and Visitors Bureau. “For 15 years, Coca-Cola has provided safe, free fun for visitors to our Island – they are a wonderful corporate partner to invest in the experience of Spring Break on South Padre Island.”

While Coca-Cola Beach has been called “the largest beach party on the planet” by The Travel Channel, it is also a place where blue water meets green thinking. Recycling is a national Coca-Cola initiative, and it’s a major focus at Coca-Cola Beach. Recycling receptacles for bottles and cans are placed at the event site and emptied daily.

Coca-Cola Beach also offers incentives for students to volunteer and get involved with the cleanup each evening to ensure a pristine beach the following morning. Open for 17 consecutive days from March 7 – 23, Coca-Cola plans to give away more than 15,000 bottles of Coca-Cola products and thousands of t-shirts, hats and other Coca-Cola branded merchandise to keep students refreshed and equipped to make the most of their experience. During that time, Coca-Cola Beach employs 17 full-time Spring Break staffers for 26 days, with total man/woman hours of 2,523.

With warm tropical breezes and miles of powdery soft sand, every watersport under the sun and a vivacious nightlife, South Padre is the preferred destination for Spring Breakers from across the country. More at http://www.spadre.com/springbreak.htm
