"Go ask Kay."
For years, those three words have been a familiar refrain for Fannin County employees. And for a very good reason, too. When Kay Dulin walks out the door Friday to begin her retirement, 48 years of valuable legal experience will go with her.
For the past 13 years, Dulin has been Fannin County Court Administrative Assistant and a valuable source of information for former Fannin County Judges Derrell Hall and George "Butch" Henderson, as well as current Fannin County Judge Eileen Cox.
It was Hall who hired Dulin and his comment summed up the feelings of all three judges.
"You made me a better judge and you made each one of us better employees," Hall stated.
State Representative Larry Phillips was on hand to read a proclamation recognizing Dulin's contribution to Fannin County. Congressman Ralph Hall sent a flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol Building and State Senator Bob Deuell sent a flag that had flown over the Texas Capitol. Judge Alan Hale built an impressive case to hold both flags.
"Kay has been very valuable to every department, and, Kay, you will be missed more than you'll ever know by all of us," Fannin County Clerk Tammy Skidmore Rich told Dulin. "Stacy, you have big shoes to fill."
Stacy Bingham has been hired as the new Fannin County Court Administrative Assistant.
Dulin is looking forward to enjoying the cool mountain air in New Mexico and spending more time with her family this summer.
"I've been in the legal profession for 48 years, but the last 13 have been the best," Dulin told a Fannin County Courtroom packed with county employees and other friends. "I leave here with each one of you in my heart."
