Bonham -- Music in the Garden, Creative Arts Center's spring music series, attracted its largest crowd in the event's two-year history Thursday, May 13 with performances by Dynamite Drummers from Neblett Elementary in Sherman and the Fannin Community Band.

Beautiful spring weather and a chance to appreciate local talent brought approximately 105 music fans to the intimate garden setting behind Creative Arts Center in Bonham.

The Dynamite Drummers took the stage first and gave the crowd an energetic and fun-filled show.

Directed by Priscilla Estes and in only their second year of existence, the Dynamite Drummers must audition, remain on their best behavior throughout the school year and maintain good grades.

The stage at Creative Arts Center was of different dimensions than the Dynamite Drummers are used to, but they adjusted like seasoned pros.

"I'm very proud of you guys," Mrs. Estes told her group at the conclusion of their action-packed performance.  "You did a great job!"

The second half of the show featured the Fannin Community Band.  Comprised of musicians from Paris, Honey Grove, Ladonia, Windom, Randolph and Bonham, this band was formed 10 years ago when a high school marching band was unable to perform in a local parade and area musicians filled in.  With a play list that ranges from Gershwin classics to Sousa marches, Fannin Community Band is always looking for area musicians to add to their number.
