Bonham - First Presbyterian Church was organized on the third Sabbath of August 1872 with 14 charter members. For 13 years the congregation had no home. In 1885 a lot was secured and a building erected two blocks South of the present location.  In 1897 it was decided to complete the building and a move was necessary. The church was removed to the present location under the leadership of Rev. J.H. Wiggins and is the original sanctuary.

In 1964 Mrs. Sam Meade and Mrs. Herbert Burow, grandchildren of charter members of the 92-year-old congregation, presented a Historic Medallion to the church. Jimmy Wiggins, Jr. (grandson of Rev. Wiggins) accepted and placed the medallion.

The current Youth House was “the Manse” in the 1940’s and 1950’s.  It was the location of the wedding of two brothers of FPC.  On May 17, 1949 current member, Jim Collins and the love of his live, Sue, were married by Dr. Chalmers G Long. They were witnesses for Billy and Edna Collins on April 16, 1955.
