"We've been playing Dixie Baseball 30+ years in Bonham and this is the first time we've had the opportunity to host a state tournament," said Brian Frazier, secretary/treasurer of Bonham Baseball and Softball Association. "If you want to watch some good baseball, come on out."

There have been two 10-team tournaments underway, with the 11-Youth and 12-Youth teams competing in separate state-level tournaments.  Competion culminates July 15.

"The City of Bonham Parks & Recreation Department -- Larry Shockley and his men - have our ballparks looking awesome," remarked Frazier.  "The grass looks like carpet."

Frazier was also quick to credit Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce for putting together visitors packets to provide information about the area.

Bonham hosted a district Dixie League Tournament last year and received numerous compliments on the facility, which seemed to set the stage for this first-ever state tournament.

The gate fee will be $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

"Every bit of money we raise goes right back into our sports center," stated Frazier. "This will be the biggest shot in the arm our complex has had and we've been there since 1999."
