The "Sweetest Town in Texas" certainly lived up to its name Saturday, August 14 as Honey Grove residents turned out to support Fannin County Clerk Tammy Skidmore Rich.

Democrats and Republicans alike listened as Ms. Rich explained how fortunate she had been to learn so much about the Office of the Fannin County Clerk while working under the direction of former Fannin County Clerk Polly Gilbert.  Mrs. Gilbert served Fannin County residents for 47 years in the Office of Fannin County Clerk and she was in the audience Saturday to voice her support of Rich.

Fannin County Democratic Chairperson JoAnn Duncan also addressed the crowd and explained how Rich had saved the county money by learning to operate and program the new electronic voting machines, a complicated process and quite often an expensive process for counties without experienced workers.

After filling their plates with an old fashioned meal of beans and cornbread provided by many of Ms. Rich’s supporters, everyone settled back and enjoyed the music of the Shannon Jones Band from Roxton, Texas.

Shannon Jones provided most of the vocals, while Fannin County Commissioner Dewayne Strickland played lead guitar, Fred Siebenthal was on the keyboards and Terry Irwin played rhythm guitar.
