Denison -- When the final numbers are compiled, the 2010 Denison Main Street Fall Festival may turn out to be the most successful event in the festival's history.
A Denison Chamber of Commerce spokesperson estimated the attendance to be approximately 15,000. Perfect fall weather, clear skies and a large number of vendors fueled the crowd.
In fact, this year the event outgrew Main Street in colorful downtown Denison, so vendors were also located along Burnett Street.
A remarkable car show occupied the east end of W. Main Street and the show attracted a lot of interest all day long.
Of course, art flows through this town's veins and art aficionados enjoyed the regionally famous galleries along Main Street as well as the art vendors in town for the festival.
Among the hundreds of pieces of artwork displayed at Images Gallery was an iconic image reflecting a well-known building on Main Street.
The Rialto is the work of Dr. Liz Walters of Durant, Oklahoma, one of the regular exhibitors at Images Gallery. (http://www.smalltownbigart.com/galleryguide07/images.htm)
Outside, a crowd surrounded a booth to watch a gifted spray paint artist turn out his latest creations. Space Art by JC is a local favorite and it only takes a moment to see why this artist's work is in demand. JC paints on anything his clients request, ranging from artwork on traditional canvas to one-of-a-kind guitars.
The artwork of Ray Heard occupied another popular booth. Heard's Art, Frames and Photo Repair is located at 118 W. Lamar in Sherman (http://rayheardfineart.com/), but the Denison Main Street Fall Festival was a great opportunity to get his colorful creations in front of a large crowd.
Be sure and circle November 6-7 on the calendar, because the Denison Fall Fine Arts Tour is slated for those two days.
