Bonham, Texas -- Odessa Lee Gatlin, age 92, passed way Monday, October 11, 2010 at Texoma Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 14, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Bonham. Reverend Morgan Malone, Reverend Marcus Sheffield, and Reverend Bill Beasley will officiate the services. Interment will follow at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham.
Odessa was born in Bonham on April 21, 1918 to Willis and Mary Key Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, three sisters, and her beloved husband of 60 years Atlas Gatlin.
She is survived by her daughter Veneta Talley and husband Robert of Mexia, TX; her daughter Jo Ann Lipscomb and husband Jack of Bonham, TX; her son Ricky Gatlin of Bonham, TX; one sister Alma Kinnard and husband Elvis of Paris, TX. She is also survived by grandchildren Susan and Randy Miller of Mexia, TX; Sheryl and Marcus Sheffield of Mexia, TX; Chris and Courtney Lipscomb of Driftwood, TX; and Chad Lipscomb and Christine Bolen of Sequin, TX; great-grandchildren Jeremy Miller, Erin and Justin Cox, Colby and Sara Sheffield, Jordan Sheffield, Christian, Bailey and Jonah Lipscomb, great-great grandchildren Jackson and Alexis Sheffield, and Trevor Cox. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces, and nephews, and a special friend Gloria Campbell.
Pallbearers will be Ray Campbell, John Simpson, Bobby McCraw, Aubrey Gist, Randy Miller, Marcus Sheffield, Jordan Sheffield, Christian Lipscomb, and Jeremy Miller.
A grateful family thanks God for a great lady and a long, fruitful life! She will be missed dearly!
Family visitation will be held Wednesday evening, October 13th, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.
