Creative Arts Center artist Phil Blander of Bonham, Texas brought home Best Of Show and First Place honors at the Madill Art Festival.

The Charcoal Portrait of Mrs. Gertie Henson, titled Mrs. Henson won local artist Phil Blander the coveted title at the 49th Madill Art Festival, held Oct. 22-23-24 at Madill City Park, Madill, Oklahoma.

Mrs Henson was chosen as Phil's subject matter because of his love for our senior citizens and in honor of his great grandmother, Mary Blakes Dalton. Mrs. Henson is one of the oldest members of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bonham.

Mrs. Henson's inspiration for Mr. Blander came after many visits in church and church functions. Mrs. Henson is a true mentor for Phil as well as a roll model in the church and everyday life. Phil has certainly captured these images of her true spirit on paper.

Phil's artwork of Mrs. Henson is on display at the Creative Arts Center in Bonham along with many other pieces of his work.

We would welcome you to stop by and preview his wonderful works of art.
