Celina quarterback Jacob Stephenson threw for four touchdowns and the undefeated Bobcats built up a 42-0 lead before coasting in with a 49-7 win over the Sanger Indians in a Region II bi-district contest.
Sanger only trailed 7-0 after the first quarter, but Celina exploded for three touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 28-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
It was more of the same in the third quarter as the Bobcats tacked on two more unanswered touchdowns for a 42-0 cushion heading into the final period. Each team would score once in the fourth quarter to give Celina a 49-7 victory.
Celina was equally effective with both phases of their offense. Stephenson completed 13-of-17 passes for 175 yards and four TDs. On the ground, Jamarick Simmons and Jose Romero each had 70 yards, with Simmons rushing for two touchdowns and Romero scoring on a one-yard carry. Stephenson hit Romero with a 10-yard scoring strike for the game's first touchdown.
Dillon Kiran was on the receiving end of a pair of TD passes from Stephenson and Daniel Mendoza snagged one pass for a touchdown.
Six Celina ball carriers finished the night with positive yardage as the Bobcats rushed for 300 yards.
Sanger wraps up a very successful 9-2 season, while the Celina Bobcats advance deeper into the playoffs to face Lucas Lovejoy in the area round.
Celina improves to 11-0 on the year and Lovejoy comes into the game 10-1, so this should be one of the stellar match-ups in the state.
