Paris, Texas will have one thing in common on Saturday, April 16 with its European namesake—original art in a beautiful setting. From 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., area artists in canopied booths downtown will offer original art for sale around historic Culbertson Fountain at the April in Paris Fine Arts Festival. Lively dulcimer music will accompany the event.
“We want to emphasize the word original,” said Connelle Peace, Chairperson of the Plaza Art Guild. “We are delighted to feature original art at the fountain. Paris, Texas has a history of fine art sales on the Plaza, which began back in the ‘50’s but waned through the years. Guild artists and their co-sponsors have a burning desire to restore this event downtown.”
“Oil, watercolor, acrylic and mixed media paintings, photography, wearable art, stained glass, and pottery by artists near and far will be on display for sale,” Peace said.
“This festival will give folks from Texas and Oklahoma the opportunity to see and purchase work not usually found in this area,” Peace said, “so that makes this event doubly exciting.”
“Dulcimer music by David and Annette Lindsey will make you step lively while you browse. David builds and plays hammer dulcimers and Annette is both a musician and painter.” Peace said. “The Lindseys will play periodically all day, but at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., they will delight us with 45-minute concerts at their booth on the Plaza’s north side. The Lindsey’s will have dulcimers and their CD’s for sale.”
“The Plaza Art Guild is grateful for invaluable assistance from our co-sponsors, Paris Main Street and the Visitors and Convention Council of the Chamber of Commerce in making this marvelous event happen,” said Craig Stephens, Chairman of the April in Paris Fine Arts Festival event.
