Candidate forum held in Bonham

Bonham -- With early voting beginning Monday, May 2, area voters were given an opportunity Monday evening to learn more about candidates vying for positions on Bonham City Council and Bonham ISD Board of Trustees, thanks to a candidate forum presented by the Bonham chapter of Texas Business Women and broadcast on KFYN AM 1420.

In the City of Bonham election, Mayor Roy Floyd is running unopposed, as is Ward 1 council member John Burnett and Ward 3 council member H. Compton.

Two Bonham City Council seats will be contested.  Council member at-large incumbent Wayne Moore is being challenged by Bill Jones.

In the race for Ward 5, incumbent Joe W. Clark is opposed by Michael S. Evans.

The Bonham ISD Board of Trustee election will also feature two contested races.

In Place 7, incumbent Charlotte Kearney faces opposition by Chad Burnett.

In Place 6, incumbent Doyce Taylor chose not to run. Lance Davis and Juanita Lance are vying for the seat Taylor had occupied.

In the City of Bonham election, early voting will be held 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. May 2-10 at Fannin County Courthouse.

Applications for ballot by mail shall be mailed to Janell Jamieson – Early Voting Clerk, 301 East Fifth Street, Bonham, TX 75418 and must be received no later than the close of business on May 6, 2011.

On Election Day, May 14, polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fannin County Courthouse.

In the Bonham ISD Trustee election for Place 6, Place 7 and the Bonham ISD bond election, early voting will be held at Fannin County Courthouse May 2 – May 4, 2011 and May 6 - May 9, 2011, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and May 5 and May 10, 2011, 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Additional early voting will be held at Bonham High School May 10, 2011, 4:30 – 8:00 p.m.

On Election Day, May 14, all precincts vote at the Fannin County Courthouse.
