Williams Motors completes reorganization efforts

Commerce, Texas -- Wyman Williams is pleased to announce completion of the process to revitalize Williams Motors in Commerce. The process of streamlining took twenty-six months, and Williams is now positive about the future of the company. The new name of the company will be Commerce Chevrolet Buick.

As a result of these recent moves, Commerce Chevrolet Buick will see major improvements in the numbers of new and used vehicles available for sale. The New General Motors has given the dealership added sales territory as a result of the reduction of the number of GM dealerships in the market area. Additionally, there will be expansions in advertising, new options for financing purchases and expanded service capacity.

“It is my pleasure to introduce two new investors in Williams Motors,” Williams said. “Don Morrell is now the majority partner and David Portell is the managing partner.”

David Portell and Don Morrell discuss strategies for enhancing Commerce Chevrolet Buick.

Don Morrell, a 1982 graduate of East Texas State University has been in vehicle sales for more than twenty-three years. He has owned and operated Morrell Auto Group in Paris since 1992 where he offers used cars and trucks and a line of new trailers.

“I believe my success in the automobile business is due to the golden rule,” said Morrell. “I do my best to treat people the way I’d like to be treated.”

David Portell, currently a resident of Double Oak, Texas and former Ford and Chrysler/Dodge dealer, has more than twenty-five years of experience in both the retail and wholesale sides of the auto business. With over ten years as a regional manager for the ADP Auto Auction Company, Portell brings a balance of automobile business knowledge few people have attained. Portell has been the General Manager for Williams Motors since October 2009.

“I am excited about the opportunity here in Commerce,” Portell said. “I welcome everyone to drop by and meet our staff. We are looking forward to working with the community to promote Commerce as we serve the area with sales and service in GM and other brands.”

“My family and I are thankful for the support all our friends and customers have given us since we arrived in Commerce in 1950,” Williams said. “We also want to thank the New General Motors, GMAC/Ally Bank and Guaranty Bond Bank for their assistance in the completion of our efforts to redefine Williams Motors. I’m certain that this new association will bring new vitality to the business.”
