Top three entries to win cash prizes
McKinney, TX -- On Monday, July 4, McKinney will take center stage to celebrate our country’s freedom with Red, White and BOOM! And kicking off the festivities will be a hometown parade filled with groups from throughout the McKinney community.
Registration is still open for the next two weeks, ending June 25, when all registration forms, proof of insurance and entry fees must be submitted. The McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau is currently accepting parade entry registrations, which should include the $25 entry fee. Cash prizes will be awarded for best entries, with $500 being awarded for 1st Prize, $250 for 2nd Prize and $100 for 3rd Prize.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 4, with entries needing to be in the staging area (the city parking lot on Tennessee between Davis and Anthony Streets, just south of the downtown square) no later than 8:30 a.m. The MCVB staff will be calling all entries by Friday, July 1, to let them know their position in the parade line-up.

The parade marks the start of the city’s 4th of July festivities. Following the parade, with registration starting at 1 p.m., will be a car show in the same parking lot where parade staging took place. The car show runs until 5 p.m. Activities move to the Soccer Fields at Craig Ranch at 7 p.m., with past American Idol contestants taking the concert stage at 8 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:45 p.m.
Red White & BOOM festivities are presented by the City of McKinney Parks, Recreation & Open Spaces Department, and are free to the general public.
