Don Mullinix, 78-year-old longtime Bells resident, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ in Sherman with family by his side.
Mr. Mullinix was born July 11, 1933 in Leonard, Texas to parents, Arthur Gordon and Hettie Jewel (Bogan) Mullinix. He married Shirley Crumby in Weatherford, Texas and they had over 54 years together. He was a mechanic for many years and retired as owner/operator of the Mullinix Garage in Bells where he had worked for over 40 years.
Don graduated from Bells High School and served his country in the army during the Korean War. He also served his community on the city council for 25 years, was a Director of the First National Bank of Bells for 10 years, was on the Bells 4A Economic Committee, and was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Bells Masonic Lodge. Don & Shirley attended Faith Church of Sherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife, Shirley of Bells, son Randy Mullinix of Whitesboro, daughter Donna Pugh and her husband Dr. Danny Pugh of Athens, Texas, three grandchildren, Brandon and Justin Pugh of Athens, Bobby Mullinix and one great grandchild Kaiden Mullinix of Sherman.
Services for Mr. Mullinix will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Faith Church at 1800 N. Fm. 1417 Sherman, Texas with Reverend Charles Glass and Brother Lowell Howard officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bells.
Palbearers are Randy Mullinix, Brandon Pugh, Justin Pugh, Darrell Richerson, Mark Crumby, James Baker, Robert Crumby, Dwain Crumby with Masons and Bells Bank employees serving as honorary pallbearers.
Family visitation is from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 22 at Mullican-Little Funeral Home in Bells.
