Last Saturday night showed how much the citizens and surrounding community appreciated the efforts of the Tom Bean Volunteer Fire Department!

The room at the Edwards Community Room at the 1st National Bank was overflowing with Cub Scouts, 4-H members, students, teachers, government officials, police officers, firefighters and local citizens.

The Tom Bean Tomcat Band started off the event with presenting special music selections to the audience followed by Mayor Sherry E. Howard recognizing all that had contributed to the success of the event.

Poetry and essay winners were announced during the event along with cash awards.  A Tom Bean "look a like" contest was held and James Roegner was announced the winner.

Plaques were awarded to Chief James Dixon, Assistant Chief Jason Lankford, Secretary/Treasurer Christy Lankford, and former Chief Robert Dixon for their many years of service to the community.  A plaque for the entire department was also presented to the members of the TBVFD by Mayor Howard.

Formal photos were taken by Larry J. Howard of the event.  Chili, cake, cornbread, cheese dip and crackers were served to all after the presentation ceremony.

The Tom Bean Culinary Class served the chili, City Secretary Cathy Pugh and Court Clerk Tammy Phillips served the cake while the SADD club members cleaned up after the event.
