Denison -- Denison held its successful first annual Historic Churches Tour on Saturday, December 3.
In spite of the rain, there was very good attendance as visitors enjoyed a glimpse of Denison’s rich spiritual past!
Grayson County Historical Commission, along with Denison Main Street, sponsored the Saturday afternoon tour that included stops at St. Patrick’s, First Christian, Waples Methodist, St. Luke’s and First Presbyterian.

Visitors could begin the free tour at the church of their choice and then take a free bus, supplied by the participating churches as well as TAPS, to the next location.
In addition, the buses stopped in historic downtown Denison at Heritage Park to give tour goers a chance to stop and shop or grab a drink or a bite to eat while touring.
Visitors seemed to particularly appreciate the tour's 85 stained glass windows (both flat and faceted), impressive pipe organs, bell chimes, architectural elements, spiritual essence, Christmas decorations, Nativity scenes, a 24-member Villager’s Chorale, plus Eisenhower's Birthplace and the Railroad Museum.
The Villager’s Chorale entertains visitors Saturday, December 3 during Denison's inaugural Historic Churches Tour.
