The Bonham Athletic Booster Club will be sponsoring the Fall Sports Banquet at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 in the Leonard A. Gerner Gymnasium at Bonham High School. This banquet will honor the athletes and spirit support groups that participated in the fall sports...cross country, volleyball, and football.
This year the featured speaker will be former Dallas Cowboy, Nate Newton. With six Pro Bowls and three Super Bowl rings, Nate started out as a reserve offensive lineman, and was nicknamed "the Kitchen" because he was bigger than William "the Refrigerator" Perry, of Chicago Bears fame.
From 1992 to 1995, together with Erik Williams, Mark Tuinei, Mark Stepnoski and Larry Allen, he was part of some of the best offensive lines to play in NFL history. His ability to protect quarterback Troy Aikman and to run-block for running back Emmitt Smith helped the Cowboys win three Super Bowls in 1992, 1993, and 1995.
As in the past, the banquet will feature a formal meal served by the Bonham Athletic Booster Club. This year's menu features chicken parmesan, sides, and dessert.
Autographed items will be auctioned to the highest bidder, with Lawton Langford as auctioneer. All proceeds will go back to the BABC for use in supporting all athletic sports at BHS.
Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children under age 12. They can be purchased at the BHS main office.
Please make plans to attend and support the athletes of these fall sporting programs.
