A lifelong resident of Sherman, Melinda Hill, is the February Photographer of the Month for the Friends of Hagerman.   Hill will have a virtual album of twelve Refuge photos featured on the Friends website, www.friendsofhagerman.com, this month.

Hill says she first became interested in photography shortly after she married, because of her husband’s involvement in it; now the Hills run their own photography studio.  She loves working in the studio as well as on location, capturing their clients’ special moments at weddings.

Hill, who is currently working at a local surgery center in charge of the Sterile Processing Dept., also enjoys spending time with her two granddaughters, hiking, camping, traveling and antique shopping.  The Hills like taking driving vacations, using the back roads, finding new places to explore and photograph.  Hill, who has visited Hagerman off and on throughout the years and regularly in the last few years, says, “I really look forward to each visit now and I am slowly learning about the wildlife that I love to try to photograph. Currently I am shooting with a Sony A700.”

Hill and her husband are both members of the Friends of Hagerman Nature Photo Club, and now both Melinda Hill, and their daughter Lindsey, have been named Photographer of the Month by the Friends.  The Nature Photo Club meets bimonthly at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge; the next meeting is set for March 10 at 12:30 p.m.

The club is open to all photographers who are interested in nature photography, regardless of level of experience or type of equipment.  Visitors are welcome, and there is no charge; members pay nominal dues.  For more information, visit www.friendsofhagerman.com or email fohphotoclub@gmail.com.
