Leonard, Texas -- Funeral services for Mr. George Edward Moore, 86-year-old Austin resident (long time resident of Leonard), are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard.  Charles E. Wrenn will officiate.  Burial will be in the Leonard Cemetery.  Family visitation will be from 12 noon until service time Wednesday, April 18th at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel in Leonard. 

Mr. Moore was born December 13, 1925 at San Antonio.  His parents were George Edward Tappen and Nancy Ann Griffith.  He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Merrill’s Marauders where he served as a field medic behind enemy lines in Burma. 

He worked as a firefighter for the Dallas Fire Department.  He was a member of the Purple Heart Association, the Merrill’s Marauders Association, the American Legion,  the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. 

Mr. Moore passed away Wednesday, April 11 at the Summit at Westlake Hills in Austin. 

George Edward Moore is survived by his son and daughter-in-law:  Stephen Reese and Julia Moore of Austin; his step-daughter and her husband:  Janet and Gary Craig of Garland; his step-daughter and her friend:  Patsy Greene and Sharon Lynn of Cape Cod, Mass.; his step-grandson and his wife:  Michael and Kate O’Brien of Placerville, CA. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three wives:  Madie Belle Reese, Bonnie Evans and Edna “Pete” Matthijetz.
