DURANT, OKLAHOMA (April 27, 2012) – On Friday, May 11, Choctaw Casino Resort will host the four-time Female Vocalist of the Year, Lorrie Morgan, at its CenterStage venue, located one hour north of Dallas at 4216 S. Hwy 69/75 in Durant, Oklahoma. Born in 1959, Lorrie Morgan is best known for her young debut into country music, induction into the Grand Ole Opry and chart-topping hits including “Two People in Love,” “Dear Me,” “Five Minutes,” and “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength.”

As the daughter of country singer George Morgan, she grew up behind the scenes of some of Nashville’s best shows at the Grand Ole Opry. After learning the ropes from backstage, Lorrie staked a claim in a career as a country musician.

By the age of 13, Lorrie made her first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry stage alongside her dad, performing her own rendition of Marie Osmond’s “Paper Roses.” After the passing of Lorrie’s father in 1975, she decided to carry on her father’s legacy and tour with his band.

In 1977, Lorrie set out on her own and played with the Little Roy Wiggins band. By time she turned 21, she toured with George Jones, spent two years as part of the Opryland USA bluegrass show and sang as a regular on TNN’s Nashville Now.

Shortly after, Lorrie was offered a recording contract with RCA and later with their sister label BNA. She released many popular hits including “Five Minutes,” “Something in Red,” “Watch Me” and “What Part of No.”

Among many of Lorrie’s achievements, in 1994, Lorrie became the youngest female musician inducted as a lifetime member of the Grand Ole Opry. Throughout her career, she has earned 14 top-ten hits, four Female Vocalist of the Year awards, and seven gold and platinum albums.
