Professional dual sportswoman Liz Halliday will return to endurance racing’s most iconic event next weekend (June 16/17) when she makes her fifth successive appearance as part of Eurosport’s commentary team for the Le Mans 24 Hours.
The most successful female driver in American Le Mans Series history has also made three competitive appearances at the French classic, including a fourth place class finish at the 2006 running. She will once again bring that knowledge and experience to the commentary booth this year, providing expert analysis throughout the twice-around-the-clock race alongside Martin Haven and Carlton Kirby.
Like all sportscar fans, Liz will be hoping for a repeat of last year's thrilling contest when, after a full 24 hours of racing, the victorious Audi took the chequered flag just 13 seconds clear of Peugeot's fast-catching #9 machine. With the French marque having withdrawn from endurance competition, the onus to take on the defending winners falls to returning Japanese giants Toyota, whose much-anticipated TS030 Hybrid will make its race debut at the event.
Liz Halliday: "I love the Le Mans 24 Hours and am pleased to be returning again this year as part of Eurosport's top-notch commentary team. I’ve really enjoyed working with them in the past and can't wait to get back in the booth for what I hope will be another thrilling race.
"It will certainly be interesting to see if Toyota can take the fight to Audi in the way Peugeot has these past few years and LMP2 looks particularly competitive, with nothing to choose between the front-running class contenders. It's very difficult to pick from around a dozen cars that could win.
"And of course the GT battle is always fierce with the likes of Ferrari, Porsche, Corvette and Aston Martin all in contention for victory, so I'm sure we're in for a great event."
Eurosport’s extensive coverage of the Le Mans 24 Hours, which is available in High Definition, begins on Monday (June 11) with the channel’s ‘Le Mans 24 Minutes Live’ magazine show. This will air every night prior to the race with practice and qualifying live on Wednesday, further live qualifying on Thursday followed by the warm-up and race live on Saturday into Sunday.
