McKINNEY, Texas (July 3, 2012) – Drinking and driving is always illegal and life-threatening. The McKinney Police Department will again increase manpower on the streets focused on drinking and driving over the July Fourth holiday. More patrol to keep the streets safe is made possible by a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

Officers will participate in the “No-Refusal” campaign. Search warrants will be sought to obtain blood samples for drivers being investigated for suspicion of DWI and who refuse to provide a blood or breath specimen. The blood samples will be used for analysis to show the blood alcohol content of suspected drivers.

McKinney police officers urge anyone attending a social event with alcohol during the holidays to designate a sober driver, call someone to pick you up if you have been drinking, or just stay where you are.
