Leonard D. Stanley, 51, of Wolfe City, passed away Saturday evening at his home. Mr. Stanley was born on December 30, 1959 in Leonard, Texas to James and Lorene Stanley. He married Nancy Bryant on May 17, 1997 in Bonham, Texas. Leonard was a homebuilder, a member of the Wolfe City Vol. Fire Dept. for 18 years and was an honorary member of the Excelsior Lodge 505 in Wolfe City. His interest included raising cattle, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends and especially his grandkids. Leonard was also a member of the Bois D’Arc Creek Cowboy Church in Edhube, Texas.
Survivors are his wife of Wolfe City, two daughters; Roxanne James; Leah Cox and husband Cody; Stepson, Bryant Sanford all of Wolfe City. GrandKids; Karli James, Cody Wayne Cox and Molly Kate Cox. Mr. Stanley is also survived by his parents of Leonard, Texas, 2-brothers; David Stanley and wife Vickie and Monty Stanley. 3-sisters; Dell McNear and husband Jerry; Tammy Wood and husband JR and Vicki Griffis Cobb, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Wolfe City at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, conducted by Kevin Towery, with burial in Grove Hill Cemetery near Leonard, Texas. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:30.
Pallbearers are Joe Hodge, Larry Keale, Ron Kent, Curtis Stanberg, Clint Dawson, Lee Smith, Monty Stanley and David Stanley.
