Van Alstyne, Texas – Wayne Hardy Davis, age 87 of Van Alstyne Texas, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Homestead in Sherman, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne with Rev. Jimmy Tarrant officiating. He was born September 10, 1924 in Dexter, Texas to Travis and Minnie Sissney Davis. He married Annie Dyer on November 14, 1942 in Van Alstyne.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, well respected in the community and a member of the First Baptist Church in Van Alstyne. He was a retired baker and butcher and was well known as the “Bread man” at the Diamond Grocery Store in Van Alstyne.
Wayne Hardy Davis is survived by his wife, Annie Davis of Van Alstyne; two sons, Wayne W. Davis and Jerry Bob Davis of Van Alstyne; one daughter, Judy Baker of Denison; four brothers, Herman Davis of Savoy, Emmitt Davis of Grand Prairie, Earl Davis and Burl Davis of Van Alstyne; three sisters, Winnie Murley (his twin), Veda Lane, Jeanette Kirby all of Van Alstyne; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Grady Davis, Albert Davis, Floyd Davis and Homer Davis.
