Whitesboro -- A young Bonham Lady Warriors team that is still getting better with each match captured third place in the 16-team 2012 Whitesboro Invitational Volleyball Tournament.

In gold bracket action Saturday, Bonham swept Sherman in two close games before falling to Gainesville in an exciting semifinal match.

In the contest to determine third place,  Bonham beat Gunter.

Against Sherman, Bonham trailed 19-17 in game one.  The Lady Warriors rallied for a 25-22 win.  Game two was just as close with the teams tied at 23-23.  A pair of kills by Bonham's Erika Porter gave the Lady Warriors a 25-23 victory.

Bonham battled a very athletic Gainesville team point-for-point in the semifinals, although the Lady Leopards came out on top in straight sets, 25-21 and 25-23.

That sent Bonham to face Gunter in the third place game. The Lady Warriors took game one, 25-23.  Gunter controlled the action in game two for a 25-14 win, but Bonham bounced back to win the match with a 27-25 victory in game three.

Bonham will be back in action September 4 when the Lady Warriors host Ponder.
