’Roo volleyball takes two of three at AC Classic day two

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College volleyball team won two of its three matches on Saturday at the Austin College Classic, closing out the tournament with a 3-2 loss to Schreiner and a pair of wins over Rhodes and Dallas Christian by scores of 3-1 and 3-0, respectively. The ‘Roos are now 5-3 overall this season.

Against Schreiner, the ‘Roos battled before falling by scores of 23-25, 25-13, 16-25, 25-21, 11-15. Shelby Eaves led the team with 17 kills and Ally Ahlberg added 10, while Kelly McDaniel totaled 43 assists. Adrienne Reynolds had 28 digs and Maddy Brinkley had 25 in the loss. 

The ‘Roos rebounded with a 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 25-23 victory over Rhodes in their second match of the day. Eaves led the way with 13 kills and added 10 digs, while McDaniel tallied 41 assists. Reynolds had a team-best 27 digs in the victory. 

In the final match of the day, Austin College topped DCC by scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-13 with Aley Zachary notching a team-best eight kills, while Kelsey Klingler had 25 assists and a team-high 11 digs. 

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
