Bonham -- The Bonham Warriors and the Pottsboro Cardinals battled to a 0-0 tie in the first quarter, but Pottsboro unleased a 21-point scoring barage in the second period on the way to a 35-7 victory.
The Cardinals' first two touchdowns came through the air as quarterback Tanner Fry connected with Justin Lawler on a 17-yard scoring strike and then hit Colt Rutherford with a 25-yard TD pass. Fry went in from two yards out on a keeper as Pottsboro took a 21-0 lead at halftime.
Bonham had the first opportunity to score in the second half when quarterback Kendall Kennedy, playing for an injured Dra Smith, hit a receiver in stride behind the Pottsboro secondary. The pass fell incomplete.
Fry and Lawler hooked up again, this time on a 25-yard touchdown pass that pushed the lead to 28-0 late in the third quarter. The Cardinals went up 35-0 when Rutherford scored on a two-yard dive.
Eli Ballard's two-yard run got Bonham on the scoreboard with 10 seconds remaining in the contest, to make the final score 37-7.
The Bonham Warriors will be looking for their first win of the season when they travel to Whitesboro next Friday, while Pottsboro will host Anna.
