Bonham -- The Quinlan JV Panthers jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and made it stand up for a 28-12 win over the Bonham JV Warriors.
Bonham got on the scoreboard early in the second period when a pair of nice runs by Tyler Bennett set up a two-yard touchdown run by Cory Smallwood that trimmed Quinlan's lead down to 14-6.
Quinlan quickly answered with a TD to stretch the lead to 21-6.
Bonham almost scored when Bennett broke loose for a 74-yard jaunt, but the first half ended with Quinlan on top, 21-6.
Quinlan struck first in the third period as the Panthers took a 28-6 lead in the contest.
Some of Bonham's best plays in the second half came on defense. Clay Clemons went high into the air for an interception, Blake DeWeese pounced on a Quinlan fumble and a hustling Jonathan Fox had back-to-back tackles to stymie a Panther drive late in the game.
The offensive highlight for the JV Warriors in the final two periods came when Clemons hit a wide open Ty Parsons for a 25-yard gain that gave Bonham a first-and-goal at the Quinlan five-yard line. Clemons hit pay dirt on a two-yard keeper, making the final score 28-12.
