Black history timeline on display at Wolfe City High School
By Eric Norcross, Wolfe City High School
Feb 17, 2004

Americans have recognized black history annually since 1926, first as "Negro History Week" and later as "Black History Month." Black History Month and the study of black history are credited to Dr. Carter G. Woodson.

American history is filled with contributions made by African Americans from speaking out against inequality to creating inventions.

At Wolfe City High School there is an expansive timeline on the wall by the cafeteria, which was created by the Wolfe City High School Student Council. This timeline takes viewers through black history in America, from the first slaves arriving in America, through the struggles for civil rights, and up to the great accomplishments of the African American athletes, politicians, and entertainers of today.

The community is invited to come by the high school and view this timeline honoring African American history anytime this month.  It will be on display the remainder of February.  Please check into the office upon your arrival.
