The Choice Moore Unit would like to say, “Welcome!” to its new “Major of Correctional Officers.” Major Joseph Moore replaces Alphonso James who was transferred to the Alfred Unit in Wichita Falls. Major Moore comes to the Choice Moore Unit from the Hutchings Unit in Dallas where he was that unit’s major. Major Joseph Moore will supervise: 2 Captains, 6 Lieutenants, 10 Sergeants, 153 Correctional Officers, and 1224 offenders. Major Joseph Moore will also be involved in the training and evaluation of the Unit's Security Staff and assisting in the day to day operations of the Unit.

Major Moore began his career in 1995 at the Central Unit in Sugarland. Three months later he was promoted to Sergeant at the Choice Moore Unit. Only three months after he helped open this unit, the Buster Cole State Jail stole him from us by offering him a position as a Lieutenant. Within three years, Buster Cole State Jail had promoted him to Captain.  Joseph Moore continued his meteoric rise within TDCJ by being promoted to Major of Correctional Officers at the Hutchings State Jail in September 2000. After three year there it was the Choice Moore Unit’s great fortune when Major Joseph Moore decided to return to us.

Major Moore states, “I take pride in being the best person I can be and feel I have the ability to work well with people. I am a loyal employee and supervisor and I firmly believe that teamwork is the only answer for true success of any organization. I look forward to working with the fine folks here at the Choice Moore Unit, meeting the wonderful people of Fannin County and contributing to this community, and continuing the legacy of excellence established by the Choice Moore Unit's Staff of true professionals.”

The Choice Moore Unit is proud to have Major Joseph Moore as its Major of Correctional Officers and looks forward to reaping the many benefits of his proven leadership abilities. Welcome back, Major Moore!
