Ector -- The Ector Eagles improved to 4-2 in District 22A and secured a playoff spot with a 79-57 victory over the Savoy Cardinals.
The first half was very close, with Ector on top 16-14 after the opening perid and it was the Eagles with a one-point lead, 30-29, at the half.
Savoy's Taylor Bigbee led all scorers at the half with 19 points.
That all changed in the third period when Ector poured in 30 points to take a 20-point lead, 60-40, going into the final frame.
Ector senior Ben Bingham came off the bench to knock down a pair of three-point shots in the fourth quarter as the Eagles earned a 22-point win, 79-57.
Ector finished with five players in double figures. PJ Connelly led Ector with 17 points, Jimmy Ford scored 16, Bradlee Coldiron dropped in a dozen points, Ryan Glaser put up 11 points and Cody Kennedy contributed 10 points. Brett Pearson had seven points and Ben Bingham scored six.
The Ector Eagles could wrap up second place in district with a win Friday night in Dodd City.
