Dodd City, Texas -- Have you ever wondered what Heaven is like?  Have you pictured who is there?  What do you do all day?   What comes to mind when you imagine heaven?  Well, I would like to give you a tiny idea of what Heaven looks like to me and my big brother.  We can hear the sounds of old country music playing and Mama’s sweet tenor voice singing every word of every song they play.  The popping of freshly dried towels as she pulls each one from the dryer and folds them perfectly to fit into the small cabinet.  The smell of dinner cooking in the kitchen and we can see Mama gently swaying to the music as she glances up, sees us watching, dashes over, scoops us up and whirls us around the room.  That’s what Heaven looks like to us ever since the Angels came down and took our precious Mama by the hand and led her to God’s Promise Land.

Betty Ann (Boggs) Brown, 66, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at her home, after a well fought battle with cancer, with her family by her side.  Betty was born January 9, 1947 in Ft. Worth, TX to Ann and the late J.H. Bruce Boggs.  She married the love of her life and best friend, Harold Brown, on May 29, 1965, just one day after graduating high school.  She and her family have been longtime residents of Fannin County.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Harold Brown of Bonham, TX; two children, Harold “Hal” Brown and wife, Amber of Ector, TX, and Amanda “Amye” Brown and partner, Destiny Hopkins of Dodd City, TX; her mother, Ann (Boggs) James and step-father George of Bonham, TX; a sister, Jan Seeburger and husband Dave of Bonham, TX; five grandchildren, Hallie and Caleb Brown of Ector, TX, Paizley and Layton Vaught, Khylee McCommas of Dodd City, TX.  Sister-in-law Sue Fletcher and husband James, of Honey Grove, TX; Sister-in-law Nancy Barber and husband Wayne of Bonham, TX; Brother-in-law James Brown of Honey Grove, TX; Brother-in-law Billy Ray Brown of Honey Grove, TX.  She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Boggs, one grandson, Jonathan Brown of Ector, TX and one sister-in-law, Ernestine “Teeny” McCraw.  She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.  Her family was her passion…her pride and joy!

Betty attended Dodd City Schools her entire academic career.  Not only was she an exceptional student, she was an outstanding athlete and she shined on the basketball court.  During her high school years she was voted Most Athletic along with a number of other awarded accomplishments, both academic and athletic.  After her graduation, she married Harold, settled down and created the family she had always dreamed of.

The celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home.  The family would like to invite any and all to come for visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. also at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home.  Graveside services immediately following Wednesday morning’s celebration will be held at the Dodd City Cemetery.

The children of Betty Brown would like to request that any donations you may wish to send, please send to the wonderful man that became the world’s greatest caregiver/self-taught nurse, our father, her husband, Harold Brown.  He took such wonderful care of his bride, not only for the 48 years of marriage but especially during the time the cancer took her ability to care for herself away.

Pallbearers to include; Lyndall Vaught, Jim Dunn, Terry Dunn, Robert Castle, Wayne Barber, Ed Hammett, Joe Cockerill and Glen Medcalf.

‘Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’  Matthew 11:28
