Hazel Christeen Avery

Bonham, Texas -- Funeral services for Hazel Christeen Avery, 83, of Telephone, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Telephone Baptist Church. Rev. Brian Everett will officiate the service; interment will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Avery passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham.

Hazel Christeen (Derryberry) Avery was born on September 10, 1929 in Allens Point, TX to Floyd and Lois (Somerville) Derryberry. She married Burl James Avery on June 25, 1945 in Lamasco, TX; he preceded her in death on August 9, 2001. Hazel was a nurse’s aide at Seven Oaks for 16 years before retiring. She was a member of Telephone Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughter, Barbara Wilson and husband Doug of Telephone, TX; daughter, Kay Saulter and husband Jerry of Ivanhoe, TX; son, Glenn Avery and wife Barbara of Ivanhoe, TX; son, Derrall Avery and wife Susan of Telephone, TX; son, Ricky Avery and wife Jean of Ivanhoe, TX; granddaughters, Sandi Manson and Kelly Saulter; grandsons, Monty Wilson, Deron Saulter, Donavan Avery, Shane Avery, and Cody Avery; 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Hazel is also preceded in death by her parents.

Serving as pallbearers will be Monty Wilson, Deron Saulter, Donavan Avery, Shane Avery, Cody Avery, and John Manson. Honorary pallbearers will be the ladies of Telephone Baptist Church Ruth Sunday School Class.

Family visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
