Bonham, Texas -- Funeral services for Alvin Charles Raymond Wood, Sr., 78, of Bonham, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Bonham under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Diane Dietz and Rev. Bill Dalton will officiate. A graveside with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Rowlett Creek Cemetery, Plano, Texas. Charles passed away early Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at the VA Nursing Home in Bonham.
Charles was born September 18, 1934 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Arnie Arthur Wood and Mary Helen Fanning Wood. He was a 1953 graduate of Bonham High School and attended college in Coffeeville, Kansas and later Grayson County College in the 1970’s. He married his high school sweetheart, Emma Frances Bledsoe on Dec. 12, 1954 and she preceded him in death July 9, 2007. Charles was an airplane mechanic in the US Navy. He loved football and played in high school, college and the Navy. He was a licensed electrician and a member of the I.B.E.W. Union. Charles was retired from General Cable and was the owner of Bonham Communications. He was a Boy Scout leader and was honored by Roger Staubach with a Leadership Award in Scouting. Charles enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents.

16 grandchildren, Heather, Dakota, Kasidy, Koltin, Payton, Morgan, Ryan, Jerry, Sarah, Charlie, Dawn, Pam, Kristal, Daniel, Randy and Rachel
18 great grandchildren
Several nieces and nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Evett, Michael Landeros, Dakota Roberts, Larry Kinkade, Koltin Kinkade, Jerry Wood, Kelly Titsworth and Mark Evett. Great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
