Garland, Texas -- Jennifer Rice's arrival to this world to Murphy and Dorothy Rice of the small town of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin was on September 30, 1958. She is the youngest of 6 children. She attended Maranatha Baptist Academy which she graduated in 1976. She also attended Maranatha Bible College for 2 years before transferring to Hyles-Anderson which she graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor’s degree in education. October 7, 1984 Jennifer married Ira Borchardt. Together they have 3 children, Emily, Elyse and Jake. She has 2 grandchildren Ean and Myles with a granddaughter due in early October.
Jennifer was a dedicated Christian and served as an elementary teacher in the private Christian school arena for over 30 years. She served 20 years at GCA and LCA for 7 years. She loved children and loved serving Our Lord. Teaching was her ministry in life. Jennifer a devoted mother and loving wife, who enjoyed life to its fullest, was a stage 4 cancer survivor with a Win-Win attitude. Her presence in this world will long be felt through all the children and adults she has influenced via her kind, gentle, sweet spirit.
Memorial service for Jennifer will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Lavon Drive Baptist Church in Garland, Texas. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lavon Drive Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home, 637 W.
