The Honey Grove High School Beta Club attended the Texas State Beta Convention at the Sheraton Hotel in Dallas January 10 – 11.  Forty eight members of the club attended and had a successful weekend.

Jacob Price, State and National Beta Club Vice-President presided over the assembly on Saturday night.  He also gave his keynote address on Saturday morning titled “Painting the Fence.”

Carter Patrick was the club’s candidate for State Beta Vice President.  Carter represented the club well with his speech “Carter Patrick, Keepin’ it Classic.”

The campaign skit performers promoted his slogan.  Members of the campaign skit were Lizzie Johnson, Josh Gerling, Abby Stephens, Raeli Motley, Shannah Spurr, Lainey Whitlock, Emilee Hall, Tori Hall, Lauren Nelson, Caiti Warren, Justin Clem, Andrew Calvert, Rylee Stoltenberg, Ethan Price, and Preston Clemmons, Natalie Ferguson, Alex Gibbons, Lyndsey Lewis, Johnny Ku, and Page Patrick.

Shannah Spurr placed second in the academic science contest and Albert Maldonado placed second in the Modern Oratory competition.  Both Shannah and Albert will compete this summer in Richland, Virginia at the National Beta Convention.

The group talent made the finals at the convention with this performance of “Every Moment.”  Participants were Lizzie Johnson, Madison Harper, Jayden Galloway, Kourtney Pevey, Albert Maldonado, Tori Hall, Lauren Nelson, Caiti Warren, Page Patrick, Brianna Cravens, Lyndsey Lewis, Alisha Dixon, Allyiah Daniels, and Ashley Reyna.

Natalie Ferguson and Jacob Price entered the Spotlight Your Club contest.  They did a poster showing the highlights of our club.  The board placed second in the competition.  Also Alex Gibbons, Nicki Gibbons, Aubry Ordonez, and Chloe Clemmons participated in the poster contest and placed second.

Once again the Honey Grove scrapbook placed first in competition and will advance to the national convention in June.  This was the 18th year in a row for the scrapbook to advance.

Also at the convention Albert Maldonado led the delegation in the pledge and Josh Gerling led the group in the national anthem.

The Honey Grove Beta Club had a good time at the convention and would like to thank everyone that made the weekend possible.
