Two departments at TAPS Public Transit now have expanded roles and new directors at the regional transportation agency based in Sherman, Texas. The changes were announced on Friday, March 7, by TAPS CEO and Executive Director, Brad Underwood.
Barbara Reeves is promoted to Director of Transportation Solutions and Community Relations. Reeves joined TAPS in May 2012 and was the agency’s very first Transportation Solutions Coordinator. Transportation Solutions Coordinators are a bridge between riders and organizations, and TAPS operations to help facilitate response to special needs and resolve rider issues.
As the agency expanded south into Collin County, Reeves was very active in developing relationships with partner municipalities and organizations in the county.
Reeves founded TAPS’s community relations program over the past two years. Her background as an active organizer, community organization director, and independent businesswoman makes her the perfect choice for TAPS Public Transit’s outreach programs.
Kerfai has dual citizenship in the United States and Tunisia and speaks four languages. He was an honor graduate in International Economics.
In his previous role as manager of transportation planning for TAPS, Kerfai was instrumental in designing the City of McKinney and City of Allen fixed route plans.
Under his leadership as Director of Grants, Kerfai is responsible for researching available financial grants and submitting the applications. Much of the agency’s funding comes from grants.
Brad Underwood, TAPS Public Transit CEO and Executive Director said the promotion of Barbara Reeves and Zak Kerfai to directorships indicates their value to the agency. “There are only six director slots in our organization. To achieve that level of recognition is proof that you have made a huge contribution to the agency and that your talents are valued,” said Underwood.
