Honey Grove, Texas -- A celebration of the life of Evan Matthew Ashcraft, 19, of Honey Grove will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at McKenzie United Methodist Church, 701 7th Street in Honey Grove, TX 75446. Interment will follow at Webb Hill Cemetery, close to Webb Hill Country Club, 6320 County Road 1023, Wolfe City, Texas. Family night visitation will be Thursday, June 12, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home, 803 E. Main St, Honey Grove, TX 75446.
Evan passed away June 9, 2014, from a one-vehicle car accident in Honey Grove. He was born on May 23,1995, in Sherman, Texas to Monte and Robbie Ashcraft at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center.
Evan grew up in Honey Grove, Texas where he attended elementary school, middle school and high school. While in middle school, Evan represented Fannin County in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Dallas.
Evan helped Honey Grove ISD his junior and senior year as a Computer Assistant and began to work at www.macroplant.com in McKinney. He attended Kiamichi Technical Institute in Durant, Oklahoma where he received an outstanding achievement award in computer science. Even after his great love of computer science, Evan enjoyed his job at Paris Pizza Hut the most.
Evan also loved having his friends visit and record their rap music throughout the night. He especially enjoyed cooking teenage gourmet meals for his friends. His other hobbies included writing webpages and figuring out computer language and accessing other networks.
Evan Matthew Ashcraft is survived by his parents Monte and Robbie Ashcraft and his sister Emily Ashcraft; grandparents, Helen and J.L. Ashcraft of Arlington, Texas and his grandmother, Betty Morgan of Honey Grove; aunts and uncles; Paula and Lee Ashcraft, Ruth Anne and Randy Hendrickson, Sharon and Kenny George, Bobby Morgan, Mark Annett and Linda Raney; and many loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Henry F. Morgan.
His friends and pallbearers are Trevor W. Acree, Shelby Ashmore, Dillon Baugh, Jimmy Chaverria, Carey Robinson, Dawson Wooten.
Honorary pallbearers are Sean Shone Hendrickson, Tyler Hulsey, Joshua Harmon, Mitch Harmon, Logan Ashcraft and Austin Rose.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Juvenile Bipolar Disorder Research Foundation.
