Bonham -- Bonham sophomores Austin Simmerman and Corey Hartwell combined to score five touchdowns, but an explosive offense carried the Farmersville Farmers to a 13-point win in Bonham.
Bonham head coach Cody Bounds turned the offense over to Simmerman this week and the speedy quarterback responded with a 253-yard, three-touchdown performance. But, on this night, it just wasn't enough.
Bonham and Farmersville traded touchdowns throughout much of the first half, with Darrin Pennington scoring on two short runs for the Farmers and Simmerman rushing for a pair of TDs for Bonham, including a 42-yard sprint to pay dirt.
Farmersville went up 21-14 on a quarterback sneak by Cole Anderson, however a 25-yard field goal by Bonham's Jorge Solano cut the Farmers' lead down to 21-17 at halftime.
In the second half, Farmersville's Caleb Twyford caught two touchdown passes from Chase Hacker and Pennington rushed for his third TD, but the Warriors gave their fans plenty to cheer about on Homecoming night. Hartwell had a 35-yard touchdown run in the third period and then Hartwell got loose for a 58-yard dash to the end zone in the fourth quarter.
Simmerman carried for his third score of the night, but the late-night heroics weren't enough to catch the high-scoring Farmers as Farmersville claimed a 48-35 win on the road.
Hartwell finished with 95 yards.
Kenton Manis had another strong showing on offense and defense for the Warriors.
Bonham will be looking for it's first win next week in Pilot Point, while Farmersville (3-1) will host Kemp for Homecoming.
