Bonham, Texas -- Funeral services for Dan Eldon Carver, 89, of Bonham will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery. Rev. Doug Miller will officiate.  Dan passed away Wednesday morning, September 24, 2014 at his residence. 

Dan was born August 28, 1925 in Collinsville, Texas, the son of James Monroe Carver and Nell Theresa Sherron Carver.  He was a 1943 graduate of Bonham High School and a 1951 graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelors degree in business administration. 

Dan was a US Navy veteran of WWII (1943-1946) and was a member of the Navy Marching Band.  He trained at Camp Perry, Ohio and served with the Seabees in Hawaii and Iwo Jimo, receiving Pacific Ribbons with battle stars and other decorations.  In 1958 he worked for Pendleton Oil & Gas in Raton, New Mexico.  In 1968 he began work with Honeywell and retired in 2001 as a Corporate Field Support Branch Manager.  After retirement, he became a real estate broker and agent establishing the Century 21 office in Bonham.

Dan married Bobbie Jean Howell on September 21, 1974 in Dallas, Texas. While in New Mexico, he was a member of the Lions Club and served on the Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts of America.  Dan was a member and served in a number of capacities in the churches where they lived.  He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Bonham, and served on numerous church boards and activities. 

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Jack Carver in 1974, his parents, 1 brother, J. M. Carver, 2 half brothers, Carl Carver and Clyde Carver, 4 sisters, Janice Cook, Dorothy Pendleton, Margaret Smith and Joan Miller and 2 half sisters, Sybil Rorie and Vera Pinson.

Stepdaughters, Amy Houseberg and husband, Steve of Ohio

Sister, Betty Recer and husband, Erv of Mandeville, Louisiana

Grandson, Andrew Jeffrey Whitlock

Step grandson, Danny Shay Ertel and numerous other step grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Danny Ertel, Andrew Whitlock, Bob Stiffler, Dick Whitlock, Steve Pendleton, Kirk Pendleton and David Pendleton.
