Bonham -- Even as snow blanketed the ground outside Bonham City Hall Wednesday, one of the city council races was heating up.
City secretary Heather Stockton reports that three names have now been tossed into the hat to vie for the city council at-large seat. Alphabetically listed, the candidates are Chantal Carey, Tony Rodriguez and Bob Thomas. The at-large position was vacated when Bonham City Council accepted the resignation of Milton Glenn February 9.
In another recent development, Lewis "Butch" Faith has filed to run for Ward 5. The Ward five incumbent, Michael Evans, has not filed for re-election.
The other two city races that will be on the May 9 City of Bonham General Election have incumbent mayor Roy Floyd and Ward 1 incumbent councilmember John Burnett both running unopposed as of press time Wednesday afternoon.
Candidates have until 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 to file.
The ballot will be finalized March 6-9 when a drawing will be held to determine in the order of candidates' names on the official ballot.
