Art, music celebrated at Arts in Bloom Festival in McKinney

McKinney, Texas -- Art from local and regional artists blossoms throughout Historic Downtown McKinney at the annual Arts in Bloom festival Saturday, April 11. The event, which features artwork, music, food and shopping, is hosted by McKinney Main Street, the McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) and the shops in downtown McKinney. Featured activities include:

ArtWalk, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. – More than 150 local and regional artists, including painters, sculptors, jewelry-makers, photographers and musicians will line the streets throughout the 12-block area of downtown to showcase their talents.

Wine Garden, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. – For the first time, Arts in Bloom will feature a wine garden showcasing wines from 12 local wineries.

The Farmers Market at Chestnut Square, 8 a.m. to noon – Shop for local and organic meat, dairy, honey and produce as well as sauces, canned goods, pasta, baked goods, wine and flowers.

Juried Art Show Exhibit, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. – Artwork from the Juried Art Show will be on exhibit in the Gallery at MPAC for public viewing. Artwork will be available for viewing daily through April 25.  

Live Entertainment, 11 a.m. and throughout the day – Enjoy live music on the Kentucky Street stage from Guitar Sanctuary and Jason Davis Jazz Quintet. Visitors will also encounter live music throughout downtown. 

Second Saturdays, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. – Enjoy an evening with live music, gallery exhibits and late hours at many stores.   
In addition to the Arts in Bloom festival, artists featured in the Juried Art Show will be recognized at a public reception on Friday, April 10 at 7 p.m. where winners will be announced. Cash prizes totaling $9,000 will be awarded to winners. Artwork will be on exhibit in the Gallery at MPAC for public viewing April 10-25.
