Opening Reception: May 2, 2015, 7-10 p.m.

The Martin Place Gallery is pleased to present Brian J. Magnuson’s most recent work, "Birds of Texas." The exhibition of colorful fine-art photography, beautifully captures an array of birds from Texas in a style that has been influenced by the early
twentieth century Pictorialism movement.

Magnuson, whose known for his exquisite black and white series “Cowboys of the Grand Canyon”, takes us in a different direction but with the same quiet thoughtfulness.

Brian’s current series explores the combination of image and process. With the photographic transfer he produces distressed yet soft painterly images of birds. “Birds of Texas” is perfectly timed to help usher in Spring, and the viewer will embrace the
peaceful beauty of these splendid images.

Brian J. Magnuson is from McKinney, Texas. After a 10-year span documenting the cowboys in Arizona he has chosen to shift gears and photograph closer to home while sharing some of the beauty of Texas. Brian has held many one-man shows across America as well as been included in several group showings. His work has been featured on Good Morning Oklahoma television program, Dallas Morning News Guide, Art in America as well as many other print and digital publications.
